The diversification of football

It was not until the 19th century when the people, especially in schools that the football became a norm, rather than an exception. It is with this increased prominence and exposure of the sport that there was an ability to make any adjustments to the sport. However, even during this period, the football game was not that had already been objectified, but rather, most of the rules and understanding of the sport was contextualized. As such, the schools could have different ways through which they understood the sport, and each could vary depending on the people in charge. It was the pitch conditions that mainly dictated any modifications, but the basic rules such as chasing the ball remained intact even under these conditions.

Some of the most famous schools that developed an understanding of the sport include the Westminster and Charterhouse, with an emphasis on the dribbling skills of the players involved in the sport. The Cheltenham and Rugby schools on the other preferred the robust way in which the ball could be carried, and the sheer display of the muscle. The rugby rules became standardized in 1846.

What changed? The major change that came after the schools started to use sports is that the sportsman qualities such as selflessness, cooperation and loyalty, and this implies that the schools had to find a way to incorporate these qualities into the school curriculum. It was not until the Freemasons Tavern which took place in 1863 that the people felt a need to have rules for the game, and the formation of the Football Association.

It is one of the things that led to other countries forming and adapting the rules that had been developed during this meeting. The implication being that there was an adaption of the resolutions of the meeting, the step formed a foundation of the understanding of the sport. Before a decade could end, the Football Association had organized members, who had reached at least 50 after just eight years.

The football sport started the diversification and spread of the football game with the firstinternational match being played in 1872 between Great Britain and Scotland. In the current structure, it is a process that has been observed over time and has come of age because of the aspects that have continued to build and shape the sport. Today, Europe and other countries, continue to be a powerhouse of football.
